gratitude during the coronapocalypse

Whew this coronapocalypse has been STRESSful!  Anyone else feel like they’ve aged 10 years in the past two weeks?  Amid all the terrible news, scary statistics and sad stories, it’s easy to forget to take stock of all the things that are going right in my world so I’ve been mindfully picking up my blessings and practicing gratitude.

Here are the things that I’m most grateful for right now:

  1. Health.  I’m healthy and the humans that I love most in the world are healthy too.

  2. Superheroes. To all the health professionals, grocery store workers, emergency responders, emergency services workers, and companies who have reorganized and are working overtime to manufacture hand sanitizer, masks, and ventilators, I thank you, I salute you, and I’m so grateful to you.

  3. Home. Amidst this global pandemic, I’m ever more grateful to have food on the table (and in my belly), a roof over my head, and a cozy place to rest my head.  I know that not all people are so fortunate.

  4. Lovely Neighbours. Our neighbours are amazing people who check in often, who offer to pick up groceries for us and who leave love notes (in the form of chalk drawings) on our doorstep.

  5. Video calls. Because I’ve never felt a stronger need to “connect” with the people who are important to me.

  6. My morning coffee and Trevor Noah. If you know, you know. Bestest combination EVER.

  7. Peloton (#onepeloton).   Two weeks ago, I treated my body like the world was ending.  I ate. I baked. I ate. And I barely moved.  Last week, I started every day with a sweaty spin workout, and it’s doing wonders for my mood…my waistline hasn’t gotten the memo yet, but it will.

  8. Time. Time to do other things – like work on my business (SEO, writing content, etc.), trying new recipes and registering for a free online course (https://www.coursera.org/learn/the-science-of-well-being).

  9. Bitmojis and memes. Because sometimes in the midst of a bout of overwhelm, the internet machine shows you exactly what you need to see in order to unclench, laugh your butt off and shift your perspective.

  10. Hubs. Even though we’re locked inside together, I’m still loving all the quality time that I get to spend with my hubs.

I know that this may seem like a bit of a fluffy post amid all the crazy stuff going on in the world…but that’s the point. Joy. Gratitude. Moments of lightness.
